New D-G vows to improve standards

PETALING JAYA: New education director-general Datuk Abdul Ghafar Mahmud has vowed to continue efforts to improve the education service and elevate the teaching profession to another level.
In his first press statement to the media, Abdul Ghafar urged teachers to continue the “good work” by ensuring each student received quality education from pre-school to secondary levels.
“Teachers must try hard from now to improve their knowledge and the quality of their teaching,” he said in the statement.
He added that he would continue the agenda of transformation in the nation’s education scene in line with the New Economic Model.
Abdul Ghafar joined the civil service on May 1, 1977, and previously held various posts such as the Chief Inspector of Schools and director of the Sports, Arts and Co-Curriculum division at the ministry. He was also the Education attaché at the Malaysian Students’ Department in Washington.

    Datuk,
For sure the need to improve and increase knowledge, so with quality of any products, services is a continuous process. Hopefully we all may be able to observe that new cum vis a vis a new level of education standard. Transform and relate those in line with  the new economic model sound to good to be real. Don't forget history as a must pass subject as the basis of transformation which may contribute to some form of better understanding of the new economic model...all the best to you....and not just a transitional duration of passing by for you before retirement.
