Ensure buses are safe, says Rosmah

KUALA LUMPUR: The prime minister's wife proposed that buses should undergo checks when entering and leaving hilly areas.
Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor said buses which do not meet vehicle safety standards should not be allowed to continue the journey.

"Set up check points at entry and exit points, especially those going to Genting Highlands. Buses that are not safe should be asked to make a U-turn," she said after meeting the Genting Sempah bus crash victims at Kuala Lumpur Hospital yesterday.

Rosmah said she was visiting the patients on behalf of her husband, Datuk Seri Najib Razak, who was recovering from chicken pox.
During her visit, she met two victims aged 13 to 20 years old. There are five victims at the hospital.

Been said for umpteen time....but the situation remains. Year in year out but similar form of tragic public transport accident happen. RTD and LPKP will come out with finger pointing and confusing statement, despite with full enforcement officer at their disposal. LPKP another obsolete entity.....issuing permit without  obligation of monitoring proper usage of it. Except for the toll free no.... pasted on those vehicle. I think RTD must be the only department to ensure proper monitoring of public transport, issuing permit and to take full burden of responsibility if anything goes wrong. If not... the public at large will continue to suffer. Unless something concrete to sort this issue..if not the so call new economic transformation is just a mere dream.
