Just a short one today, since yesterday my youngest son keep insisting me to assist him to write a summary, content so with moral of the story from the novel "potato people". Secondary two, english literature chosen book in Malaysia. The book have been there for quite sometime, maybe few years. I am not too sure myself, he is the only one to show me and insist to read it all through.Later to relate to him in more simple language, so he can jot it down in a simplified way.
Here is the ascept:
Summary of the novel: Potato People
What I have learnt from the novel “Potato People” by Angela Wright. This story took place in Ireland. The novel illustrates the suffering of the Irish people during that time due to the poor harvest of potatoes and long dry season. The main character Patrick an Irish boy who suffer through that period as an orphan. The struggle to survive from starvation because of potatoes disease known as “potato blight” further worsen by colonialisation of the English landlord from England. Patrick and his people were driven out of their land led by the henchmen of Lord Egham known as Mr. Graystone.
Sean is the man that gives Patrick the encouragement and motivation to search for freedom in faraway land – America. The novel further explains the difficulties, hurdles and suffering of Patrick in achieving the dream for freedom.
Toward the ending chapters of this novel another character in the form of Marie, a gypsy girl which further compliment the struggle of Patrick by giving the best of friendship, encouragement and braveness in pursuing together for freedom.
Finally, both of them managed to achieve their freedom and dream for paradise by migrating to America.
But my father said there are more issues to that even until today why the Irish people cannot see eye to eye with english dog of England. How much the Irish hate the english people not only with regards to their ethnicity by the difference in faith, Irish people are normally “protestant” and the english are mostly “catholic”. Though all are christian faggot but they are at each other throat. This reminds him about history subject during my father schooling days, about the Pilgrim Fathers, the mass exodus of Irishmen and women to America.
The english are the same dogs that colonized our country.

err..are you serious with the last paragraph?
Why Intan? Remember Lord Cromwell...how difficult to form a state of democracy...
"Irish people are normally “protestant” and the english are mostly “catholic”."
The statement has already been reversed. The Irish are predominantly Catholic and the English are predominantly Protestant.
